Conditions of Entry to Hillview
I understand the importance of meeting pup before purchasing and checking out the environment pup is raised in. Because of this we welcome visits and pick up at the property.
However as this is my family home, that of my dogs and my children it is in our best interest that certain conditions to attend the property are accepted before attendance.
Attendance is by appointment only.
Adults to enter the property must provide their name and address prior to attending.
A deposit is to be paid upfront.
Anyone attending the property will be required to wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
Bio-security measures must be met for the safety of puppies on the property. Use of sprays and disinfectants will be required on hands and footwear.
Exploration of the property is not permitted and only puppies for sale and their parents may be viewed. This is for your safety and the emotional health and well-being of our dogs, with no unnecessary stress to mothers with young pups etc.
All children must be supervised and well-behaved, no child is to hold a pup of their own accord (the welfare of pups must be the priority.)
No photos or videos to be taken on the property, for the safety of dogs and children living on the property.
Guard dogs are not to be approached by any persons. They will be secured on arrival and no attempt to befriend them is to be made. They are very good at their job!
People should be aware Hillview kennels has 24hr security CCTV cameras in place.
About Hillview Kennels – Located in the Tingha Area
(2.5 hours above Tamworth’s Golden Guitar, NSW)
Hello and welcome,
My name is Kat. I am a mother of four and live in a small town in Northern NSW.
I have completed my Certificate in Coaching, Care and Behaviour, as well as my Diploma in Puppy Development, Care and Coaching.
My passion is my fur babies. I am constantly learning and adapting to build the right environment to raise my puppies to meet the health and behaviour requirements desired by families in any environment, so that my puppies will gel easily and be an open slate, ready to mould themselves to their prospective families.
Hillview Kennels follows DPI regulations and holds council DA approval and inspections. We also undergo yearly comprehensive audits conducted by a veterinarian.
The audit conducted by a veterinarian, who takes the time to thoroughly assess the facility, dogs, and paperwork, is very detailed. Our dogs are regularly health checked and receive dental examinations, overall health assessments, and all necessary testing, including DNA testing, physical health checks, and behavioural assessments and evaluations.
I feel this provides peace of mind to customers who are unable to attend the kennels for pickup and viewing of their future fur babies, knowing they are purchasing from a veterinary-approved breeding facility.
We are registered with Fur and Family First Companion Dog Breeders Inc. and the Master Dog Breeders Association.
We also offer lifetime rehoming. This gives me the confidence and reassurance that the pups I breed will never end up abandoned or without a home.
I started breeding in 2011 when I moved to a rural property (just one minute out of town). At that time, I had three pet dogs. When my first litter of Bichoodles were picked up by their new owners, watching the happiness fill these families as they received their bundles of joy melted my heart. I was overwhelmed with a feeling of euphoria—I had brought a little happiness into people’s lives, and I wanted to do it again. The thought still brings tears to my eyes.
I currently have 15 adult breeding dogs in our breeding program. These dogs have their own kennels, where they reside during the day if I am not at home, and in the evenings they often sleep in our beds.
Each yarded area includes a tiled shed for easy and maintainable cleaning, a grassed yard, and a shaded outdoor bed so they can choose to sleep inside or outside. During summer, each yard has a wading pool so the dogs can cool down or play in the water. In winter, the dogs are provided with floor heating. While we are home, they enjoy the company of myself and the children in our large backyard, as well as access to the house.
All dogs are kept active with daily ball games, chasing games, and basic training to keep them social, well-mannered, and entertained. These dogs are highly intelligent and will never be neglected or without contact. All dogs are kept up to date with health checks, and all kennel activity is recorded.
Our Pups
I am always present for the whelping of my pups. Personally, I would not like to have given birth on my own, and I am there to provide both emotional and physical support to each mother.
I handle each pup daily to check on their progress and to monitor for any issues.
Pups are given a quick health screen at 4 weeks of age to ensure healthy development. At 4 weeks, they are offered their first opportunity to start eating, and by 4 weeks they are enjoying two meals a day alongside feeds from their mother.
At 6-8 weeks of age, pups receive their first vaccination, health record checks, and microchipping. The health checklist includes checks for hernias, teeth and mouth alignment and development, eyes, ears, heart, breathing, patellas and general health. By this stage, pups have been wormed at two-week intervals since birth. They are treated with Advocate monthly for worms, heartworm, and fleas prior to leaving.
Between 8–10 weeks, pups are self-weaned and ready for their new homes. Due to the tiled kennels that lead out to grassy yards, your pup has already had basic training and learned to move from indoor surfaces to outdoor toilet areas. Pups are readily eating a variety of meats and have also started dry food.
Each litter is given stuffed chew toys from 4 weeks of age. These toys carry the scent of mum and siblings, and I send one home with each pup to provide comfort and reassurance when settling in, along with their night blankets.
By this age, pups have been socialised with other dogs, our cats, and my four children. They will be happy, confident, and willing to participate in their new adventures. They will also have experienced bathing and basic grooming before 8 weeks to ensure they are comfortable with the process.
I recommend brushing, ear checks, and nail checks at least weekly during the first couple of months. This can easily be done at home in a playful and positive manner. I recommend puppy training classes commence only after your pup has received their third vaccination and waited two weeks following that vaccination.
There are many easy-to-download smartphone apps and YouTube videos available that can assist with puppy training knowledge. A well-mannered pup grows into an easy-to-manage dog and a delight to all who meet them.
After the third vaccination, your dog will require a booster one year later and then every three years thereafter, along with yearly health checks. Please discuss regular worming, flea, and tick treatment options with your vet. If you are smartphone savvy, you may wish to download a dog health app to record treatments and set reminders for worming, flea treatments, and other health care needs.
